In a period of six months, I had become a new mother, lost a job, started two jobs and was contemplating if any decision I was making was the right decision for me life. Amy helped me recognize that I was amidst a tidal wave of change and that I needed to have grace with myself as I adjusted to the changes.

The simple action items that she assigned each week, along with her candid recaps of our conversations, quickly helped me gain a vision for where I wanted to be and where I wanted to go in my life.

It also became apparent just how helpful it is to talk to someone who has absolutely no agenda in your life other than to help you gain a better understanding of what you want and need.

During the month we worked together, I went from "Is this the right decision?" to "The path is clear."

The thing I've learned from talking with Amy is that I was all over the map in a lot of ways. My goals were very diffuse. I wanted to do lots of things, and without the focus, they weren't happening. In working with Amy, she helped me focus in by listening to me and giving me feedback on what we talked about, my actions and keeping those goals in mind. It's really helped.

The newfound focus is good. In just one month, I've seen significant changes that support my life.

When I began working with Amy I felt scattered and unclear. I had all these ideas about paths I could take, things I wanted to do with my life, and no clear process for figuring out where to begin. Working with Amy helped me get clarity on those things — by removing brain clutter, taking care of myself better and just creating a better space for those ideas to live.

Right now, I am well on my way to realizing all of those things I want to do with more certainty and, well, clarity. I feel far more at peace and confident that I can make the things I want to happen, happen.

Coaching was an accident for me. I had been working on making life changes that incorporated exercise and living a healthier life. I had started the process, but had some hurdles. I was redefining myself and it was hard for some of my old family friends to get accustomed to the new me.

I had huge doubts about coaching. How was it different than therapy? The thing that I like about Amy is that she pushes you to take action. She asks you to make changes every week.

After a session, Amy always sends a recap of the session which includes notes and objective feedback about your particular situation. And, the recaps also include "action items" that are exercises or things to do to keep you moving forward so that you don't get stuck talking about the hurdles, but instead, you are actively changing and overcoming them.

Amy helped me gain the confidence and find what was important to me in building new friendships in my new self.

I first started working with Amy in the fall of 2010. I wasn't happy with myself or where I saw my life heading. While getting a "life coach" seemed a bit weird, I'd already tried traditional counseling in the past and knew that "talk therapy" just wasn't for me. I wanted to make changes in my life, but I was too close and connected to things to make good, clear decisions all alone.

After hearing about Amy's action-oriented style from a friend, it seemed that was exactly what I needed. It was hard to get into the sessions at first, but as I allowed myself to open up to her suggestions and exercises I started seeing progress. My small act of investing in myself through her services ended up making a world of difference. I'm a work in progress, but I wouldn't have come as far or as fast without Amy's help.

Amy's main focus in her life coaching practice is to inspire, motivate and provide guidance and support for others. Working with Amy is helping me connect my outdoor and indoor lives, towards creating an even happier, better balanced life for myself.

I had doubts about the possibility of finding direction to achieve my personal goals through life coaching, much less through email! How could someone I've never met, and only emailed, understand what my true aspirations were when I didn't? Amy's guidance and insightful questions helped me learn more about what my real goals are and how to focus my passions in ways that will help me achieve them. Amy helped me dig deeper, reason through difficulties, and our email discussions brought me a new sense of clarity.

I met Amy at a time when I had just turned my life upside down. I felt like Alice fallen through the looking glass, excited about my new adventure in wonderland until I realized that maybe wonderland wasn't so thrilled about me.

I was underemployed, living thousands of miles from my support system on an isolated island at the lowest point in the economy. I had left a very lucrative career in a major city and a wide network of friends and family. I felt incompetent, crazy, and unsupported. I wanted to rush back to my old life but it just felt wrong but then again, so did my “new life.”

Amy consistently held a mirror up for me and the message was always the same: I have all the resources I need and any choice I make will be the right one for me. I wasn't totally buying it but I played along. I at least knew that I felt better after each call. Now, almost a year later, I finally feel like I'm on the right path and Amy and her coaching skills provided the signposts I needed to get here. I am ever grateful for her patient and sincere support.

Amy is an absolute brilliant coach. I have been so happy to have her motivate me through a new healthy lifestyle. She is very good at pulling my words together, helping me understand my emotions, motivate me to not use excuses. She is very knowledgeable and I have grown by leaps and bounds in the area of health and wellness, and could not have done it without her. She is very inspiring and recaps reality when I am thinking that I have had a bad week. Thanks Amy.

When I came to Amy for coaching I was looking for someone to assist me in my fitness goals but came away with a great deal more. As we went through the coaching process, we focused not only on fitness goals, but making it a life change that is now incorporated into who I am.

I began coaching with Amy to help me get out of the rut I was stuck in. I have had four coaches before Amy, but none have come close to leaving a lasting impression on me the way she has. I have become a lot more aware of myself and how I interact with the world around me through this coaching process. I have gained a lot of power over things I had completely given up on before.

Since I began coaching with Amy, I landed a great job and I’ve been thriving in it! I have achieved a sense of purpose in life and I’ve been more confident than I’ve ever been! I have learned that I am capable of things that I never thought were possible before meeting Amy.

Most of Amy’s feedback actually came after the session in the form of concrete notes. These notes were wonderful, and I still continue to read them! She took all the important stuff from our sessions and distilled it into one thought or action.

I have gained an incredible new arsenal of strategies that actually work for me to deal with the most persistent and pervasive issues in my life. I am 100% confident that these strategies will not just be a fad because my new way of doing things has already become second nature to me.

Amy helped me realize that no matter my past ability or wellness that I could have the active life that I desired. This is huge because being an asthmatic since birth, I have always questioned whether this is possible. Since she helped me to see this I have pursued all the activities that I have longed to participate in (yoga, hiking, snowboarding) at a frequency that I desired. I feared that I would become sick but I found that my immune system actually grew stronger and my happiness has increased immeasurably. I'd say she's had a pretty profound impact.

I had been reading Amy's posts for Expand Outdoors on facebook and was intrigued.  After talking to her personally, I thought it would benefit me to use her expertise to help me get in better shape. A tall task! I don't do exercise!

I am 66 and out of shape. Balance was a problem as was stamina. Right away Amy suggested I join a gym and find a trainer I liked. I did that and with Amy's encouragement and advice, and the easy beginning exercises from the trainer, I began to see results. I have more energy now and feel steadier on my feet. I feel more comfortable at the gym and the home routine is easy and flexible.

Amy zeroed in right away that my biggest challenge will be sustaining my progress. She encouraged me to remember what motivates me and what I need.

Amy was good. She listened carefully to the nuances in my voice to hear hints of what I was really saying. She offered ideas and encouragement. She remembered key words I had mentioned in past conversations and used them to help me understand where I was coming from.

I had doubts another person could have enough influence to change my daily habits. But Amy made me see I COULD make changes and feel better about myself and my body.

- Carol Powell, Texas

I had the honor of working with Amy for twelve weeks. She made me a believer in her, the process and myself. I came in with my doubts, but before the close of my first session, I was on board. Give yourself over to the program and Amy will see to it that you choose and effectively move toward the goals that will forever impact your life and the quality thereof.
