the beginning and aspiring athlete

As a late-blooming athlete myself, I have a lot of experience (and a hugely special place in my heart) for beginners. See if you recognize yourself in any of these statements:

  • You’ve never considered yourself an athlete, but are intrigued by the outdoors.
  • You consistently set goals to get healthier, but it feels more like work than fun and you end up losing motivation and focus. You’re ready to change this cycle.
  • You want a lifestyle that’s fun and active, but don’t know where to start.
  • You’ve started a new sport and love it, but are afraid it might be temporary. You want to create sustainable habits to help you keep the momentum going and stick with it.
  • You’ve signed up for your first race (or event) and you’re not sure what comes next.
  • You’ve finished your first race or event (congratulations!) and can’t seem to get motivated to keep it up.
  • You’re feeling intimidated at the gym or when you think about signing up for a race.
  • You want some help setting up structures and routines that will help you sustain and grow your new, active lifestyle.
  • You’ve already made some big lifestyle changes and are noticing that this is causing a ripple effect in other areas of your life and want help managing these new changes.

If any of these statements—even just one—sound familiar, I can help.

“Amy is an absolute brilliant coach. I have been so happy to have her motivate me through a new healthy lifestyle. She is very good at pulling my words together, helping me understand my emotions, and motivate me to not use excuses. She is very inspiring and recaps reality when I need it. Thanks Amy.”

success stories

Here are a few accomplishments my clients have achieved while working with me:

  • Created a workout routine they could stick to—and love.
  • Reached the summit of their first mountain.
  • Identified and then began participating in new activities that matched their personality.
  • Learned to recognize negative inner voices and built powerful tools to overcome them.
  • Got “unstuck” from their current routine and created new goals to work towards.
  • Overcame a fear of the gym and finally learned how to use the weight machines.
  • Created the time for regular workouts while juggling a busy family, full-time job and church obligations (inspiring her daughter to join her!).
  • Identified factors that led to both motivation and de-motivation and leveraged that knowledge to find sports that felt more like play (and less like obligation).
  • Discovered that they are, in fact, athletes.

“When I came to Amy for coaching I was looking for someone to assist me in my fitness goals but came away with a great deal more. As we went through the coaching process, we focused not only on fitness goals, but making it a life change that is now incorporated into who I am.”
