I hope you’ve had an amazing October. I can’t believe Halloween is just about here! There’s lots going on here at Expand Outdoors and I thought I’d take a moment to re-cap the past month, along with sharing some of the upcoming news with y’all.
First off, I want to thank you. Thank you for reading, commenting, supporting and for just generally being awesome. I can’t tell you enough how much I appreciate every single one of you.
For those of you may read the blog, but haven’t made it to the rest of the site yet, I’m a certified professional life coach that helps my clients create a fitter, healthier life (with a big emphasis on the power of the outdoors). If you’re interested, check out this page that gives you a quick tour of the rest of the site.
I also have a facebook page and I’d love it if you hopped on over and joined in the conversation. I’m really bad at asking for help, but I’m working on it—and I’d like to ask you guys to help me spread the word about Expand Outdoors, my blog and my mission (to help inspire others to start creating a healthier and fitter life). Tell your friends, family and colleagues about me, share a link to the site, invite them to join us on facebook… you know the drill. Anyway, thank you. :-)
october happenings
For those of you who are new here, or haven’t had the time to catch up on some of the posts, here’s a quick recap.
I’ve re-instated my Monday awareness series. This month we discussed:
We also talked about some practical tips for staying motivated:
- Motivation Missing? 5 Ways to Track it Down
- Adding Variety to Your Workouts
- How do You Get Motivated?
I also revived the Expanding Outdoors interview series. This month features Jared Kohlmann, plus a compilation of all the interviews I’ve posted so far. If you or someone you know is a late-blooming athlete and would be interested in being interviewed, please contact me.
I shared a couple of life lessons, as well as a new (barefoot) experiment:
- Defining Moments: The Great Green Bean Discovery
- Stepping Into Love is Like Learning to Ride a Bike
- Barefoot Running (I Blame Hawaii)
And finally, I wrote a book review on a book that’s as much about living life as it is about writing:
so what’s coming up?
A monthly newsletter. Yep. That’s right. A newsletter focused on helping you create a healthier, fitter life. I’m not sure exactly what it’ll look like (as it’s going to be very much a work-in-progress), but I want to give you guys a little more in-depth information, tips, and assignments you can do at home, as well as special discounts on my coaching packages. You can subscribe with this link today, and I’ll be adding a permanent sign-up form to my website soon.
The holidays. They’re coming… and will be here before you know it. I’ll be talking about ways to stay fit and motivated throughout the holiday season, as well as making healthy choices and how to listen to yourself and stick with your goals.
Journaling. I journal a lot, and have been for as long as I can remember. It helps me stay sane and I get a lot of questions from clients and friends about journaling. So I thought I’d start posting some of my thoughts, tips, things that I do that helps keep my journaling fresh and motivating. Let me know if you have any particular questions or challenges around this topic and I’ll be sure to address them.
On a more personal note, in early November, my husband and I will be embarking on a year-long van trip we’re calling the adVANture. We’ll be traveling around the country working part time, climbing, trail running and mountain biking. I’ll devote an entire post with more details, initial itinerary and how this all came about, along with a link to a new blog we’ll be launching to document the year, so stay tuned.
what about you?
What do you have planned for November? If you’re new here, welcome. You might want to subscribe to my RSS feed to stay up to date on the latest posts. Of course, you can sign up for my upcoming newsletter, too. And as always, I love to hear from you. Please leave a comment, connect via twitter or facebook, or contact me directly.
